Roger Delano Hudgins, 75, coasted into heaven on a “slow bell,” one of Roger’s favorite sayings from his Coast Guard days, on Aug. 15, 2012.
Roger was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Fort Worth to Dillard and Velma Hudgins. Roger served 22 years in the United States Coast Guard as Chief Petty Officer from 1955 to 1977.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Hudgins, and son, David Hudgins.
Roger is survived by wife, Zelma Hudgins, of Weatherford, Texas; sons, Terry Hudgins and his wife, Vickie of North Carolina and Eddy Roach of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters, Luanne and her husband, Neil Livingston, of Decatur, Texas, Leanne and her husband Mark Peterson, of Decatur; grandchildren, Josh, Shae, Shelby, Bubba, Kelley and Amanda; and brothers, Johnny Hudgins and Richard Womack.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel.
