WEATHERFORD – Elsie Karlen went to be with the Lord, Friday, Dec. 9, 2011. She donated her body to the Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She was always giving of her love and understanding, her cakes and cookies she made for friends and family and her modest finances to causes she believed in, especially disabled veterans.
Elsie was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Honolulu, Ha. She married Wilfred “Bill” Karlen on March 8, 1943. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1995.
Upon her death, she was still driving her 1983 Chevy Impala and living on her own. She was a professional cake decorator and was still decorating cakes for her family. She loved to read and was an avid bowler until the age of 80. She loved watching sports on TV, especially tennis and football. She was a loyal Cowboys fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Scott and husband James Scott of Weatherford; granddaughter Audra Baker. of Weatherford; grandson Shane Baker of Montana; and great-grandchildren Adam and David Sossamon of Weatherford.
