Willa Anne Shepherd Gwin

— Willa Anne Shepherd Gwin, 79, died from cancer on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013.

Service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in DFW National Cemetery on Monday.

She was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Fort Worth, the daughter of Alvin and Irene Shepherd. She followed her sister and brother and graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth. She attended Texas State College, which is now the University of Texas-Arlington, where she met Jim. She and Jim married in December 1953. They had three children, Sue, Faye and James Alvin.

She was a homemaker. They were active members of Handley Baptist Church before moving to Dennis, Texas. They were active members of Brock Baptist Church until Jim died 10 years ago. After that, Anne joined North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford, where she was an active member.

She is survived by her children Sue, Faye, James (and Tony); her sisters, Mary Jo Shepherd and Harriet Waring; brother, Al Shepherd; grandchildren, Lauren (and Brian), Courtney (and Mike) and Amber and Annie; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
