Carroll Eidson Hobbs

WEATHERFORD — Carroll Eidson Hobbs of Weatherford, now in God’s hands, died unexpectedly Nov. 13, 2012, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.

Carroll was born Nov. 22, 1947, as Wanda Carroll Eidson, the second child and only daughter of Jack Leigh and Wanda Carroll Eidson, in Houston. She was 2 years old when the family moved to Weatherford, where she grew up. She was a swimmer for PBC, played the piano, and was a Curved Bar girl scout, a cheerleader, and football sweetheart at Weatherford High School from which she graduated in 1965. She attended Stephens College in Missouri for one year, returned to North Texas University and then transferred to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where she graduated in 1972 with degrees in Elementary and Physical Education. She taught kindergarten in Aledo, Lubbock and Weatherford schools. In Lubbock, she also taught aerobic dancing for several years and was a member of the Lubbock Junior League. In her first marriage, she had two children, Christopher Stephen Pipes and Eric Bryan Pipes with her then husband, William E. Pipes. Later, she met and married Roy Gene Hobbs in 1982 and, together, had a daughter, Tiffany Dawn Hobbs. Roy and Carroll lived in Lubbock, where she helped raise all her new family, including stepchildren Roy Scott Hobbs and Angela Kay Hobbs. After Roy died in 2000, Carroll moved back to Weatherford with her daughter Tiffany and continued teaching until her retirement. Being a caring and hard working person, she helped in the care of her father and with Tiffany and the nurturing of her granddaughter, Aubrey. Carroll was a generous and caring person, having a strong and loving bond with family. She enjoyed crafts, teaching the young, gardening, singing and playing hand bells as well as helping out with Logos at church. Even in death, she willingly chose to continue her caring ways by donating her organs through the “LifeGift Organ Donation Center.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hobbs; her mother, Wanda Eidson and brother, Scott L. Eidson.

Surviving loved ones include her father, Jack L. Eidson, MD; daughter, Tiffany Hobbs; sons, Chris and Eric Pipes; stepson, Scott Hobbs and wife, Tiffany; stepdaughter, Angela Archinal and husband, Jason; brothers, Jack L. Eidson Jr. and wife, Judy, Mark C. Eidson, MD and wife, Sarah and Jon K. Eidson and wife, Lynne; “Mimi’s” grandchildren, Aubrey Carroll Hobbs, Tori Lan Archinal and Jason Scott Hobbs; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

A memorial service at Grace First Presbyterian Church is to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Visitation and a reception will immediately follow in the church Great Hall. A private family graveside service will be held later.

In lieu of flowers, appreciated gifts may be made in her memory to the Grace First Presbyterian Church Music Fund, and, please consider becoming a registered donor by signing up with www.LifeGift.org.
