L. W. “Mutt” Hudson

WEATHERFORD —

L. W. “Mutt” Hudson left this world at age 90 to be with the Lord on Oct. 21, 2012.

Mutt was a loving husband to Janie Lee Parrish Hudson for 62 years. He was a wonderful father and father-in-law to Susan and Ted Hull, Vergie and Malcom McKinley and Chip and Joy Hudson. He was an incredible grandfather to David Hudson Hull (and wife Jessy Law), Christopher Lee Hull (and wife Andrea Donovan), Hudson Lee McKinley, Stefan Foster McKinley and Ashlee Joy Hudson. He is preceded in death by mother Addie Rose Arrington Hudson, father Elias Elonzo Hudson, siblings Lura Hudson Cheshire McCraw, O. B., Joe Bailey, Clifton and grandson Hudson McKinley. He is survived by brother Billy Ray and multiple nieces and nephews.

Mutt was raised in Trinity, TX, and served during WWII in the Navy on the USS Bull in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters.

He influenced many lives as a middle school Industrial Arts teacher in the Marshall Independent School District and was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Marshall.

Mutt loved sports, particularly golf. After his retirement in 1984, he became a faithful member of the Medicare Golf Group in Marshall. His other love was gardening and competing with fellow gardeners in raising vast quantities of produce to distribute to friends and family. He was an avid hunter and camper and taught his family to enjoy the outdoors. Mutt was an accomplished handy man who loved to help others, and he had a magical touch when needing to fix something. He was a wealth of information before google — if he didn’t know the right answer he would make one up.

In recent years, Mutt and Janie moved to nursing care in Weatherford, where he died peacefully surrounded by family.

Pallbearers will be Chip Hudson, Malcom McKinley, Stefan McKinley, Ted Hull, Chris Hull and Jeremy Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers are Andi Hull, David Hull and Jessy Hull.

Funeral services for Mutt will be at 1 p.m., today, at Ramah Church in Tenaha, with Jerry Spivey officiating. Interment will follow in Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha. Visitation will be prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m. at Ramah Church.
