John “Pete” Woods

— John “Pete” Woods, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Aug. 22, 2012.

He was born on Sept. 4, 1918, to Robert and Lula Booker Woods in Weatherford, Texas. Pete managed Carter-Ivy Hardware Store for 20 years. He also served with the CCA building bridges and parks across America.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Lee and Lula Woods; daughters, Shirley Ann Woods and Linda Ratts; and sisters, Bonnie, Ruby, Bobbie and Betty.

Pete leaves behind his wife of 72 years, Ruth Woods; grandchildren, Leah Riedel and Rodney, Donna Blaylock and husband, David; great-grandchildren, Colby McLin, Mallory Riedel and Jonathan Blaylock; great-great grandchildren, Matthew, Haylee and Flo Wilkie; son–in-law, Don Ratts; sister-in-law, Billie Forbes; brother, Buster Woods; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
