Jack Carroll

ANGLETON – Jack Carroll, 84, of Angleton, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.

Service was 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Carol Petty, of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, officiating. Visitation was Wednessday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers were Monroe Rieger, Ronnie McCown, Marshall Hurley, J.E. Woodward, Mack Cornett and Raymond Smith. Private burial followed at Forest Park East in Webster.

He was born in Garner, Texas, June 28, 1928, to Quince and Jewel Phillips Carroll. He grew up around Weatherford and Fort Worth and graduated from Peaster High School. Jack was employed by Brown and Root for almost 40 years. After retiring, he spent his time dealing in used vehicles and caring for his rental properties. He was a fair and honest man, believed in hard work and loved his family very much.

He is survived by Billye, his wife of 60 years; daughter, Sandra Moss (John), of Houston; daughter-in-law, Susie Carroll; and grandson, James Taylor Carroll, of Hondo; brother-in-law, Tommy Scroggins, of Dallas; sister-in-law, Thelma Carroll, of Weatherford; and nieces, nephews and extended family.

His parents, his brother, Loron Carroll, and his son, James Leon Carroll, preceded him in death.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care given him by Dr. Kwak and his team at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Dr. Falcon and Dr. Mark Bonnen and their respective teams of Brazosport Cancer Center. Our appreciation also goes to Hospice Care Team, especially Rhonda.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Research for Mantle Cell Lymphoma, P.O. Box 4486 Houston, TX 77210-4486 or the charity of choice.
