Ruth M. Stanford, 82, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, in Millsap, Texas, due to the progressive disease COPD.
Ruth was born Oct. 17, 1929, in New Boston, Texas. She was the daughter of Richard and Ester Kennington. She moved to Fort Worth in 1949 where she met and married Charles W. Stanford in 1950. Her life consisted of selfless acts of kindness for family and friends. Ruth was an outstanding and skillful crafter and was able to bring joy to others by the means of sewing, painting, floral design and gardening. She volunteered at Campbell hospital until she was diagnosed with and survived colon cancer in 1986.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Ester Kennington; brother, Richard Kennington, and granddaughter, Christina Thompson
Survivors include her husband of 62 years Charles Stanford; daughter, Sharon Thompson and husband Ray of Millsap, Texas; grandson, Russell Thompson and wife Mandy of Lipan, Texas; sister, Lena Harmon of Crowley, Texas; brothers, Thomas Kennington and wife Sandy of Granbury, Texas, and Carroll Kennington and wife Cleo of Weatherford, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family members will have a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage a donation to the American Lung Association in Ruth’s name.
