Jack P. Sisco, 80, former Baylor great and resident of Corsicana, passed away June 27, 2012, as a result of a long time battle with cancer.
Jack was born on Dec. 30, 1931 in Denton, Texas, the son of Robert Dickey “Jack” Sisco and Sue Louise Parker-Sisco. He was a graduate and Hall of Fame Inductee of both Weatherford High School and Baylor University. Jack was a collegiate football All-American and All-Southwest Conference center for Baylor University and played in the 1952 Orange Bowl Classic.
He received his master’s degree at North Texas State University. He married Sylvia Leatrice Burton in the fall of 1953.
He proudly served as an Air Force captain during the Korean War before beginning a 33 year career with the Dallas ISD as a teacher and school principal at several elementary schools in the East Dallas area.
He was well known for his big smile, jovial laugh, telling stories and more than anything, he enjoyed time at his summer home in Creede, Colo., where he had spent his summers since childhood. He made many lifetime friends wherever he went. He had a heart for people and was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lea Sisco; son, Jeff Lee Sisco of Seattle, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann and Rich Maler of Chatfield, Texas; grandsons, Jeff Lee Sisco Jr., Timothy Dale Morris, Eric Wayne Maler, Luke Daniel Maler and Jack Parker Maler; granddaughters, Sarah Alline Sisco, Jaclyn Sue Wilhelm, Emilee Nicole Sisco and Gabrielle Juliette Sisco; great-grandchildren, Haley Grace Sisco, Mason Parker Sisco and Riley Mae Wilhelm and several nieces and nephews.
The celebration of Jack’s life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 2, at First Baptist Church of Corsicana. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.
John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
