Eber Nathaniel Parrish Jr.

Eber Nathaniel Parrish Jr., 85, known as “Jack” to friends, lost his long struggle with cancer peacefully at his home near Weatherford on Monday, March 18.

Service is 3 p.m. Friday, March 21, in Greenwood Funeral Home Garden Chapel. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth.

Born May 24, 1927, to Rev. E.N. and Ora Henson Parrish in Cleburne, Jack lived his entire life in Texas. He grew up in University Park, and raised his daughter in Irving before moving to Houston and later retiring near Weatherford. Upon retirement, he spent the remainder of his life enjoying his grandchildren and caring for rescued animals. Jack was honored to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Petrof Bay in the Pacific Theater and again in the Korean War on the USS Navarro.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sharon Murphy Parrish; his cherished daughter, Beth Parrish Welch and husband, Bryan Welch, of Fort Worth. Jack was most proud to be “PawPaw” to his grandchildren, Brayton Grace, Barret Nathaniel and Beckett Charles, who filled his last years with so much joy.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his beloved siblings, brother, Jesse Ben Parrish, and sister, Harriet Kathryn “Kitty” Parrish Blue.

The family would like to thank Alpha Omega Hospice and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders of Weatherford for their loving care.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the SPCA.
