Linda June Mitchell

Linda June Mitchell, 64, died March 16, 2013, in Sherman.

A memorial service is 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.

She was born Dec. 7, 1948, to Molly June and Ruel Boyd Mitchell in Plainview. She graduated from Borger High School in 1967. On Dec. 29, 1970, she married Martin E. Pierce in Williamstown, Mass. They had a son, Matt, born Dec. 7, 1971.

After several years as a stay-at-home mom in Atlanta, she graduated from Kennesaw State University in 1985 in Computer Science. Linda acquired her love of travel from the time she lived in Hong Kong during the 1990s.

In April, 2007, she married Stephan Paul and lived on Marco Island, Fla. She had traveled the world as a computer system analyst for IBM and touched many lives throughout her 20-plus years of travel with work. They became like family to her.

Linda loved jewelry, cooking, traveling and, most of all, her family. When she was not traveling with work, she liked Monday night Bible studies and walking on the beach.

Linda is now at rest with the Lord, her mother and granny. She will be missed and remembered for the unique sense of humor and ways she cared for those she loved. She was always thinking of others, not herself, even when very ill.

She is survived by her son, Matt and his wife, Laura, from Franklin, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Michael (14), Brian (10) and Danielle (9); husband, Stephan Paul (Johnny), from Marco Island, Fla.; a stepson, Bryson; and a very “special” niece, Robin and her son, Ryan, of Mustang, Okla. There are many cousins from both sides of her family who considered Linda very special because she gave so much and was willing to do anything she could to show how much she loved them.

She was preceded in death by her mother; father; brother, Randy, who she called her best friend; and her sister, Bobbye.
