MILLSAP – Brenda Kay Switzer, (Granny B), 66, died March 20, 2013.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Millsap. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers for Granny B are Steven Finch, Randall Coburn, Floyd Gaines, James Huddleston, Jason Irwin, Wayne Campbell and Steve Green. She has passed from this life to her eternal life.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Mayfield. Brenda was born Oct. 25, 1946, in Fort Worth. She lived in Fort Worth for several years before moving her family to the home place in Millsap. There, she raised her two sons, Gary and Kevin Switzer.
Upon her passing, Brenda was employed by Toledo Finance for over 13 years, where she served as the branch manager in its Weatherford location. Brenda loved going to work each and every day and being with two of her closest friends, Kathy Markum and Sara Rasmussen.
The most important thing to Granny B was her family. She, along with her boys and their families, all lived together on the home place now commonly known as “The Switzer Compound.” It was a usual sight to see Granny B together with her grandkids each and every day. She loved her family more than life and always protected them with every ounce of her being. She cherished the special relationship she had with her niece and best friend, Dina Westbrook. Together, they shared many special shopping trips and made countless memories with one another.
Our hearts are broken and will long for Granny B in the many days to come, but we find peace in knowing we will see her again in Heaven, and get to spend eternal life with her.
The entire Switzer family would like to thank the ICU employees of Weatherford Regional Hospital for their kindness and compassion for our Granny B. We would also like to thank the ICU employees and doctors at the Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth. Especially the greatest ICU RN on Earth, Amy. You were amazing.
She is survived by her sons, Gary and daughter-in-law, Julie, and Kevin and daughter-in-law, Rita; and her grandchildren, Eddie Triem, Junior Maass, Mindy Switzer, Ricky Banfield, Shannon Banfield, Charlsa Banfield, Misty Triem, Blake Switzer, Madison Wiley and Kaley Ledford; as well as her great-grandchildren, Hunter Maass, Gunner Bullock, Gabriel Banfield, Jaxon Triem, Isaac Banfield, Morgan Banfield and Emily Banfield; she is also survived by many very special nieces and nephews.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Mayfield; her brother, Bobby Mayfield; and her sister, Lucretia Reaves.
Rest in peace Granny B. We will miss you every day but rejoice in knowing we will see you again soon.
