N.L. (Lynn) Shirley

BROCK – N.L. (Lynn) Shirley, 90, a retired carpenter and farmer, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at a local hospital.

Graveside service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Brock Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at White’s Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.

N.L. (Lynn) was born October 13, 1922, the son of Ezra and Verdie Shirley in Llano. He lived in Brock most of his life. Lynn married Oma Glen Mathews, of Brock, on March 13, 1940.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Collins and husband, Kenneth, of Dennis; son, Donald Shirley and wife, Linda, of Brock; three granddaughters, Donna Cox and husband, John, of Cypress, Dianna Taylor and husband, Todd, of Brock, and Mendy Golightly and husband, Danny, of Brock; six great-grandchildren, Cayla Smith, Johonna Cox, Jana and Grant Golightly, and Tristen and Takota Taylor; one great-great-grandchild, Aurora Jo Smith; one sister, Irene Cardwell, of Brock; and one brother, Jim Shirley, of Breckenridge.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Oma; his parents; one granddaughter; and one brother.
