Student charged with lacing pie with marijuana

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Sharing a pot pie normally isn’t a problem that would involve law enforcement, unless the pie in question contains actual pot.

And that’s exactly what Colquitt County school officials are alleging was the case that involved a junior high school student.

C.A. Gray Principal Todd Cason reported that the school received a report that a 13-year-old boy would bring the special dish to school one late February day, Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office reports said.

School officials were ready and seized the pie, which contained a green leafy substance. It was turned over to the sheriff’s office for testing.

The following day the boy’s father called the school and said the boy had admitted lacing the pie with marijuana, sheriff’s reports said. The school is pressing charges of possession of marijuana against the student, who was released to his parents.
