For roughly forty years Americans, as well as citizens of most other Western European cultures, have been force-fed a gluttonous diet of Political Correctness. Like many well-intentioned goals with the lofty idea to promote equality, this process has been crammed down our throats like a dose of bitterly offensively, though purportedly necessary, life saving medicine. It has been enforced with brutal efficiency by the federal government, and as a result, it has degenerated into an unrealistic and selectively discriminatory nightmare. The tragic shooting incident at Fort Hood serves as a poster child of such insanity.
Why in God’s name did the Army allow this Muslim terrorist to wear an Army officer’s uniform and brutally murder 14 unarmed fellow soldiers and civilians on a moderately secure military installation?
This happened because those in charge are so afraid of a visit by the Politically Correct (PC) Police that they could not or would not deal with known and documented “red flag” provocative statements and actions by Major Nidal Malik Hasan.
Following this shooting, I watched intently as the news reports trickled in from various sources. President Osama’s initial statement cautioned against “jumping to conclusions,” despite a rather poor track record of his own. Army Chief of Staff, General George Casey, when initially interviewed would not call the attack “terrorism” and seemed more worried that “increased speculation could cause a backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers.” Lieutenant General Robert Cone, Fort Hood’s Commanding General, quickly stated that “the motive for the attack is unclear.” He also said that although “he could not rule out the incident as an act of terrorism, evidence does not support that theory,” despite witnesses reporting that as Hasan went on his shooting spree he yelled, “Allahu akbar.” This is an Arabic phrase meaning “God is great.” How politically correct can you whitewash this brutal act of terrorism?
Major Hasan was American born with parents of Palestine descent and blessed with all that America has to offer. He attended medical school on the taxpayer’s dime, and despite a history of blatant anti-American Islamist statements and a less than satisfactory record of performance, he was not only allowed to continue to serve in the Army, but was promoted to Major. He openly opposed the war in the Mid-East and was purportedly very distraught over his orders to go overseas. He was adamant in his belief that Muslim soldiers should not be required to serve in the current war on terrorism.
Even though Major Hasan’s record of links to al Qaeda, radical Islamic views, and a history of poor professional performance was well known by superiors and peers alike, no one was willing to risk the wrath of the PC police in order to question his qualifications as a military officer.
We would expect that the Army would quickly get rid of a radical white supremacist, and until we begin to deal with all races, genders, religions, and ethnicities in the same manner, which is called “equality,” we are doomed to wear the yoke of Political Correctness to our soon to be dug graves.
