New student pastor/Bible instructor to speak Saturday

WEATHERFORD — A delightful young man, Carlos Armando Arellano, is coming to Weatherford to minister. He was born in Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico in 1978. His parents brought him to the United States in December 1987, to their home in California where they had lived for the previous two years.

Carlos was raised as a Catholic and enjoyed being involved in a church, thanks to his grandmother Justa Garcia (father’s side). It was his desire at 9 years of age to become a priest, but could not go to seminary due to their poor economic status. So the desire faded away, especially after coming to the United States and seeing a whole new side of life that he had not seen in his first nine years of life.

After his arrival, he developed a new desire. It was to become a famous musician, along with his brother, Jose Arellano. This dream continued from 11 years of age all the way to his 21st birthday.

It was Christmas 1999, that his mother, Cecilia Alonso, his father, Carlos Caraballo, his brother and he were invited to visit the Keene Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church, for the first time.

Fast forward to Sept. 30, 2000, he became a Seventh-day Adventist Christian. God had once again put the desire in his heart to become a minister and a servant for his people. This time it would be as a pastor, not a priest.

He is now in his fourth year of college with two more years to go to finish his degree in theology. Until then, God has and is continuing to open doors for him to grow in the ministry, such as in giving him this opportunity to be the Bible Worker and Student Pastor for the Weatherford Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He looks forward to pleasing his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in this tremendous work of taking the Gospel to the inhabitants of the city of Weatherford, as well as in serving his brethren within the church in any way possible for the edifying of their spiritual walk with the Lord.

“May the Holy Spirit guide us” he prays. He will be seeking to build upon the sacrificial efforts of many others in spreading the good news of salvation to all the people of Weatherford.

As a kind of postscript, Carlos Arellano retains his musical talents and is using them in a wonderful music ministry along with his spiritual perceptions in preaching and in personal Bible study with interested parties.

He will be preaching at the Weatherford Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 201 Eden Road, this Saturday at about 11:20 a.m.

Everyone in the Weatherford community is cordially invited.

William Barclay tells the story of a servant who was sent to meet a train on which his master’s friend, an English nobleman, was supposed to arrive. The servant, who had never met the man, asked his master, “How will I recognize him?” To which his master replied, “He will be a tall man helping somebody.” What a description!
I thought of that story after seeing the excellent film version of Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel, The Help.
