Visiting priest shares hope with local church

WILLOW PARK — Rev. Lucia K. Lloyd, priest-in-charge at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Heathsville, Va., recently preached and celebrated the Eucharist at the Episcopal Church in Parker County.

“After so many years of not being allowed to have women serve as priests in our diocese, it is such a privilege to welcome women from the larger Episcopal Church who want to minister to us and finally be able to invite them to preside at the altar,” said Victoria Prescott, senior warden at the Episcopal Church in Parker County. “Our two congregations share a unique bond, as each chose to worship in temporary quarters in order to remain in the Episcopal Church.”

Rev. Lloyd helped create a special bond between St. Stephen’s and the Diocese of Fort Worth when she and her parishioners sent gifts and notes of encouragement to leadership in the Diocese of Fort Worth as it reorganized earlier this year.

Prescott added this Sunday is the feast day of St. Francis, and the Episcopal Church in Parker County will host a blessing of the animals at the Cherry Park Pavilion in Weatherford. All are welcome to come and bring their pets for a blessing.
