Zagrobelna, Norwood sign with universities

Weatherford College basketball players Iwona Zagrobelna and Ashley Norwood have signed national letters of intent with university programs for next year. Zagrobelna will play at the University of Hawaii and Norwood will attend Texas Southern in Houston.

Zagrobelna, a 6-foot-4 post from Poland, was a second team All-Conference selection for the Lady Coyotes this past season, finishing in the top ten in points per game (12.3) and rebounds (6.4). She was the Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman. Zagrobelna is the fourth Lady Coyote to transfer to Hawaii in the past several years.

Norwood, also a 6-foot-4 post, averaged 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in conference play during the 2005-06 campaign. The Baton Rouge, La. native transferred to WC from the University of New Orleans.

The Lady Coyotes advanced to the semi-finals of the 2006 Region V tournament, posting a 19-12 overall record, 12-4 in conference play.
