Weatherford’s high school and junior high cross country teams competed at the Fort Worth Country Day “Thrill of the Hill” Invitational meet Saturday, amidst the wind and rain brought to the area by hurricane Ike.

The varsity boys’ Blue team finished sixth out of 15 teams, with individual medals won by seniors Aaron League, finishing seventh and Holton Hemby, who finished in no. 12 spot. The varsity White team finished eleventh place overall.
Sophomore Nathan Collier won the JV boys’ race, leading the Roos to a sixth place finish out of 21 teams.
At the junior high level, the eighth-grade boys finished twelfth out of 28 schools. The eighth-grade girls finished eighth out of 23 schools.
The seventh-grade girls brought home a second-place team trophy, with Chandler Lacefield from Hall finishing first. Harley McGrath of Tison brought home a medal, finishing eleventh, and Ronni Middeton of Hall medaled, finishing fourteenth. The seventh-grade boys were the meet champions, with Andy Rogers of Hall bringing home a fourth-place medal, Colton Bigham from Tison medaling in fifth place and Alex Morris medaling in tenth. Both Hall and Tison athletes made an impressive showing.
