WEATHERFORD — The Hall eighth-grade Red team hosted Burleson Hughes Middle school Monday, and played very well, shutting out the Elks for a 6-0 victory. The defense did an efficient job, not allowing Burleson across the Roos side of the 50-yard line. The defenders were led by Fidensio Matturino and Jordan Reynolds on the line. Mason Castner, Austin Hill, and Cristian Ramirez also played very well defensively.
The offense moved the ball well on the ground, led by Austin Hill and Keith Miller. Castner had a big third down completion to Cory Campbell at the end of the first half. The lone touchdown came on an isolation play by Keith Miller from 5 yards out. The players did an excellent job improving their record to 1-1.
The Hall seventh-grade Red team also played the Burleson Hughes Middle school Monday. The boys came up a little short, losing 20-6 in a hard -fought game. Offensive standouts were Christian Marshall and Josh Brown. The Roos defensive players of the game were Evan Curry and Chris Humphreys. Though taking the loss, the boys improved from last week and did not give up.
The Hall seventh and eighth Blue and White teams play Tuesday.
