WHS boys bounce back to beat Haltom, still in 3-5A mix
Paxton Lanning turned a hat trick Friday, including a penalty kick goal against the Haltom Buffalos, as the Roos got back on the winning track with a 4-2 District 3-5A soccer victory. WHS had lost their last two matches and needed the win to stay abreast with other district playoff contenders.

Seeing double: Brock girls defend state title
AUSTIN — Reminiscent of a Region II playoff game, the Brock Lady Eagles faced a worthy opponent Saturday, against Wall High’s Lady Hawks, in the Class 2A Girls Basketball Championship game, played at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. Although Brock enjoyed a nine-point halftime lead, Wall’s defense closed the gap to set up a nailbiter toward the end of the contest, but the Lady Eagles prevailed to take the 2A crown in a low-scoring title game, 38-33.

Brock boys fall in semifinal
STEPHENVILLE — The Brock Eagles faced their toughest foe yet, Saturday, squaring off with Ponder for the Class 2A Region II crown, and a trip to the state tournament.
It was the Eagles that came out on the short end, falling 65-42.

Lady Eagles cruise to Class 2A final over outmatched Jewett Leon
AUSTIN — From the opening tip in Friday’s Class 2A semifinal game, the Jewett Leon Lady Cougars encountered too much defense, committed too many fouls, but most of all, was greeted to their first experience in the state playoffs with way too much of Brock’s Kenisha Harris.
