NFL clinic to be held

NFL Football Clinic slated

Youth from ages 8-18 with a passion for football can come out to an NFL clinic hosted Saturday, Jan. 10.

Marianne McGuire, who has set up the event, has worked with athletes for the last 10 years.

The event will be held from 1:30 p.m. — 5 p.m. at 1714 S. Main St. next to Maverick All Star Tumblers.

Athletes will have their choice of several sessions, including quarterback training, receiver training, offense, defense and strength and explosion.

The clinic will have professional and semi-pro athletes helping out, including former NFL players Todd Scott, Derek Frazier, Toya Jones and Keith Mitchell.

Members from the Weatherford Bullets semi-pro football team will also be on site to help train.

“So far, we have at least 25 professional and semi-professional players that have committed,” McGuire said. “Twelve of them played in the NFL.”

Any athletes interested can call and pre-register at 817-599-0700 for $85. Cost of registration at the door will be $100.

The clinic will include training until 5 p.m. followed by an autographing session.

McGuire said she is expecting around 200 participants and will cut off registrations at 250 athletes.
