Staff Report
Weatherford College rodeo athletes Jake Cobb, Clif Cooper and George Rowland have returned from the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming.
Cobb, along with Eastern New Mexico’s Kyle Roberts, finished in 11th place in the team roping competition. The pair had the best time of the second-go , 5.3 seconds, and a strong 6.8 in the second go. But a “no score” on the final round knocked them out of the top ten.
George Rowland finished 26th in tie-down roping and Clif Cooper finished 31st.
“Our team had a pretty tough week,” said Mike Brown, WC head coach. “In talking with them on Saturday I feel all three have more determination to not only go back next year but to dominate their events. I know this attitude will carry over this fall to unite the group with the same determination.”
Cooper and Cobb won regional championships and Rowland won the regional reserve championship to qualify for the CNFR. This was WC’s fifth consecutive year to send representatives to the CNFR.
