WEATHERFORD —
The Weatherford-based Texas Regulators 9U baseball team blew out the South Lake Dragons, 14-3, to claim a first-place victory in the Gold bracket at Bakersfield park in Flower Mound.
The American Amateur Youth Baseball Alliance (AAYBA) Texas World Series drew more than 200 teams and featured nearly 800 games in four age divisions from June 26 through July 2.
Pool play began the week, landing the Regulators in the Gold division of the 9-and-under bracket. On the road to the championship final, the Regs dispatched Dynasty Jacks Blue and HV Storm Red.
The Regulators were led on the mound by pitcher Logan Hewitt, who collected seven strike outs, while issuing no walks.
Offensively, six Regulator hitters combined for 13 hits, eight RBIs and 12 runs scored. Agressive base running led to 12 stolen bases and kept the pressure on the Dragons pitching staff.
Kooper Shook led the Regs effort at the plate, going 3-for-3. The Regulators put the championship contest away in the sixth frame, ushering nine runs across home plate.
