Lady Roos beat Haltom in district match

Weatherford improved to 9-2 in District 3-5A with a 56-41 win over the Haltom Lady Buffs, Friday. Building a six-point lead by the end of the opening period, the Lady Roos held the lead and pulled away in the final quarter with a 14-7 scoring edge. Ashley Bosley led the WHS girls in scoring, putting up 17 points, while Shaina Jenkins and Mack Lankford also hit double digits, with 13 each.
The victory assures the Lady Roos sole possession of the district runner-up spot, with its only losses coming to undefeated North Crowley. Headed to the playoffs, Weatherford closes out its regular season Tuesday, hosting the Richland Lady Rebels at 7:30 p.m.
Bearcats fall to Saginaw

The Aledo Bearcats fell to Saginaw Friday night in a District 9-4A battle, 65-49. Danny Glass led with 13 points, and Robbie Speier added eight. Aledo hosts Springtown Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Brewer edges Pojo

The Springtown Porcupines lost to White Settlement Friday night, 59-32. The Porcupines were held scoreless in the first period, and were unable to make up the deficit. Robbie Loving was the leading scorer for Springtown, with nine points. The Porcupines take on Aledo on the road Friday.
Ladycats fall short against Saginaw

Two quarters were the decisions in the Aledo-Saginaw contest Friday night, as Saginaw outscored the Ladycats to win, 66-43. Mallory Powell scored a team-high 16 points, and Caileen Tallant had 11. The Ladycats host Springtown in their final home game Tuesday night.
Springtown blows past Brewer

The Springtown Lady Porcupines used a strong first half to cruise past Brewer Friday night, 62-37. Christian Cassity and Chelsee Smith had 12 points each and Brooklyn Horton had 11 points. The Pojo travel to Aledo Tuesday.
Hall 8th graders split with Granbury

Thursday night the Roos took on the Granbury Pirates at home. The A team had a close game, contested all the way to the end, but fell short, losing 37-40. Tony Rodriguez and William Banks led the team with eight points, followed by Britton Olds and Andy Rogers with seven, Isaha Brunner with three and Mitchell Dworsky with two.
The B team made the Pirates walk the plank, winning 43-16. Logan Guest knocked down four three’s, and lead the team with 17 points. Wayland Fay had eight points with two three’s, followed by Michael Layne with six points. Jacob Slimp popped a 3-pointer, while Logan Morris had two points and Mazen Abdejialil chipped in a free throw.
Hall Lady Roos take on Granbury

Thursday night, the seventh-grade Lady Roos A and B teams traveled to Granbury to play the Granbury Lady Pirates. The Hall B team fell behind, 2-0 early, before going on a 34-3 run to win the game in convincing fashion, 34-5. Emiley Buckland paced the Lady Roos with six points. Caylee Bray, Victoria Muzquiz, Natille Barnett, Taylor Price and Minna Haddadi chipped in four points each. Tara Ames, Jessica Chipelesa, Holly Hamiter and Christin Gasca finished the scoring spree with two points each.
The Lady Roo A team met a determined Granbury team in the first quarter, and carried a two point lead into the second. The second period belonged to the Lady Roos, as they outscored the Lady Pirates, 11-0, leading 21-8 at the half. Granbury made a run at Hall in the third quarter, closing the gap to 24-18. Hall applied pressure defense in the fourth quarter, and ran away with a 37-25 victory. Sierra Klein led Hall with 13 points. Ashleigh Erb added nine points and Sophie Bennett scored six. Lauren Roark and Bailey Durant each chipped in four points. Hannah Couch finished the night with a free throw.
This week, all three teams will be in action at Tison on Feb. 11 for the final basketball game of the year. The C team will start the action at 5 p.m.
Parker County girls end season this week

Girls basketball's regular season draws to a close this week, as most district schedules will be satisfied on Tuesday.
Weatherford's Lady Roos finish with Richland, while Springtown and Aledo will face off with the district championship in the balance.
Brock, Millsap and Peaster also finish their respective district seasons Tuesday.
