WEATHERFORD —
Over the weekend the Weatherford High School wrestling team traveled to Saginaw for the 8-5A district wrestling championships. The Kangaroos had a very strong showing at the meet. As a team, the Roos finished second overall, only behind state-ranked Azle High School.
Individually, the Roos had 13 top four placers. In their respective weight classes, junior Trent Eden came in fourth, sophmore Marcus Elliott finished third and, with freshman Matt Mears, were regional alternates.
District runner-ups and regional qualifiers were Josh Brown, Jace Horner, Taylor Stutz, and Brandon Hale. District champions and regional qualifiers were Thomas Parker, Nathan Oglesby, Blake Robinson, Josh Muric and Sean Clinton.
The Weatherford Wrestling Team qualified nine wrestlers to travel to El Paso this weekend for the UIL Region 1 Wrestling Championships.
