Things took a nasty turn for the Aledo Ladycats in the second quarter at Mansfield High School Friday, as the Ladycats were ambushed with a 23-10 scoring deficit in the period. Mallory Powell led the Ladycats with a game-high 20 points, with senior Alanna Martin adding 13.

Aledo ends the current season with a  District 5-4A title, (14-0) and are also the Bi-district champs with their win over FW Southwest.

WC looks to big meeting with Ranger

Staff Report

After dropping a contest to Southwestern Christian last week, the Weatherford College Coyotes bounced back to beat Hill College on Wednesday, keeping themselves among the top four in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) standings. At 5-4, WC is a half game behind third-place Collin and a half game ahead of Temple with three games left.

WC meets conference leader Ranger on Wednesday, at the Graber Athletic Center, which will be the final home game of the season for the Coyotes. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Lady Coyotes extend streak to seven, clinch tourney spot

Staff Report

Since losing consecutive NTJCAC conference games in January, the Weatherford College Lady Coyotes left the month with a victory and are perfect for February. WC has run the win streak to seven, culminating with a convincing 104-81 romp at Cisco. The game marks Weatherford's highest point total of the season, and also assures Weatherford a reservation at the NJCAA Region V tourney.

At 9-2, the win throws the Lady Coyotes in a 3-way tie for first place, sharing the top spot with Cisco and Hill College, who the Weatherford women beat last week.

WC returns to home court on Wednesday for their final appearance at the Graber Athletic Center. The Lady Coyotes will face Collin, who at 5-6, is in a struggle to make the fourth spot in the standings.

The Air Force Academy recently graduated their first openly gay cadets. What does this signify?

Nothing. There have always been gay cadets, they just haven't been open.
A step backward. Sexual orientation issues shouldn't be a part of the military.
A step forward. The military needs to be open to people of all backgrounds.
No opinion.
