WEATHERFORD —
Tison Middle School’s power lifting team, coached by Darren Cooley and Jarrod Tidwell, took an overall first place Tuesday, at the Outback in Weatherford, while earning first place in 7 of the 10 weight classes at the event. A large vocal crowd watched as middle schools teams from as far away as Dublin competed in the event. Coach Cooley, in his second year as Tison’s power lifting coach, exudes a passionate style of instruction, helping develop a potent power lifting team of middle school boys and girls.
Mike Nowak and Mikey Smith are rookie lifters, only involved in the sport for two months. Winners (with weight class, in pounds) include, Zach Mohr (132), Michael Ipilito (141), Ty Fox (148), Robbie Carper (165), Jesse Rohden (181), Mike Nowak (220) and Mikey Smith (242).
