WEATHERFORD —
The first kickoff for the 2012-13 prep football season is still weeks away, but the pigskin will be tossed and kicked around for public viewing sooner rather than later. And the WHS intra-squad scrimmagers will not be the only ones moving the ball.
On Saturday, August 18, Roo Stadium will prove to be a veritable bee hive of activity, from early morning until late into the day.
Between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., boys and girls will be able to sign up to participate in the NFL Punt, pass and kick competition, which will be held at Roo Stadium. Entry for the competition is free.
There are five age groups for the competition which is open to all kids ages 6 through 15. More information about age eligibility can be found at NFLPPK.com. For more information regarding the local competition, contact Greg Shaw at 817-613-8185 or 817-313-4257.
Local competitions will determine sectional qualifying, which will lead to NFL team championships, and finally, the national competition will be held in January.
After the PP&K competition, fans are invited to stay for Roos Media Day at the stadium.
The Kangaroos will take the field after the picture taking is done and conduct an intra-squad scrimmage as they prepare for the 2012 football season.
