Coyotes’ stellar season ends at NJCAA tourney
After bouncing back from a loss on Thursday to assure another day of life in bracket play, Friday and Lake Land College, provided the Weatherford College softball team with a tough row to hoe — a bit too tough. The Lakers bats came out blazing, as they put up four runs in the first two innings.

Offense shines in Blue-White tilt
Weatherford football fans showed up to sample the new fare being served up by head coach Weldon Nelms and his coaching staff on Thursday, after the coaches have spent the past few weeks adding new ingredients to the Roo offensive and defensive schemes during spring drills. The practices culminated with the annual Blue-White Spring Game.

Weatherford High School senior Lou Hawkins saw her years of hard work on the hard court come to fruition this week, as she solidified her intentions to make Weatherford College her next-level move for furthering her education, as well as her basketball career.

WISD Community Education recently concluded its Spring Basketball Leagues for the boys and girls divisions and a season-ending tournament was held.

Aledo Ladycats move to Region I final with sweep past EP Chapin
In Game 2 of a Class 4A, Region I semifinal softball match in Odessa on Saturday, the Aledo Ladycats eliminated El Paso Chapin with a 12-6 win. The Ladycats bats heated up early in the match, scoring a pair of runs in the first frame and following up with another three in the seond.

WC opens national tourney with 8-0 win
It was a dominant debut for WC on Wednesday. In their first-ever national tournament game, the Coyotes beat Walters State (Tenn.), 8-0, at the Canyons Complex in St. George, Utah.

Roo Area/Regional qualifiers recognized
The Weatherford ISD Board members recognized Weatherford High School track athletes recently, for advancing to Class 5A, Region I area and regional track meets.

WC signs point guard
Juozas Balciunas, a point guard from Lemont High School in Illinois, has signed a national letter of intent to play and study at Weatherford College in 2013-14.
