On a night featuring seniors and a barn-burner district match between the Greyhounds and Ponder, the whole night was a crowd pleaser. Poolville’s pair of senior players helped lead the Monarchs to an undefeated District 11-1A, Division I slate, culminating with a dramatic, come-from-behind win over the Collinsville Pirates on Tuesday, 51-50, using stout defense and clutch shooting down the stretch to preserve its unblemished district mark. Finishing its regular season with a 30-6 record, Poolville has had 30-win seasons three of the past four years. The state coaches’ poll currently ranks the Monarchs in the top ten in Class 1A, Div. Williams slugs way to APC’s Most Valuable
About the only negative you could conger from the season Roos Dustin Williams had was that the senior first baseman did not get to finish it. Helping Weatherford get back to yet another postseason, a clock-work occurrence for the Kangaroos after district baseball is done, Williams’ mishap in a late-district contest took him out of the lineup.

July camp information has been added to the roster of athletic offereings for Parker County. Interested parties should not that many of the camps offer pre-registration advantages to make the camps more cost effective for parents.

MLB squads draft four Coyotes, two Weatherford College exes
Like many talented players, Hunter Lockwood opted to play junior college baseball in hopes of being taken in the Major League Baseball draft. He transferred to Weatherford College after one season at the University of Oklahoma, where he tied for second in the Big 12 with 11 home runs, and was named to the All-Freshman Team.

Roos land 11 slots on All-District roster
Arlington Martin’s Warriors made a good showing for District 3-5A, earning a berth at the state tournament before bowing out to Fort Bend Dulles in the semifinals. The deep run by Martin bodes well as an affirmation of the level of competition for District 3.
