WEATHERFORD —

Roos rebound to beat Paschal

Staff Report

Weatherford wrestling teams traveled to Azle Tuesday, to take on the Hornets and the Paschal Panthers in a dual meet.

Azle proved a worthy opponent, topping the WHS boys, 52-25. Teancum Payne, Tyler McDonald, and Nester Oviedo picked up wins in the match, but the decisions were not enough to close the gap on points.

But the Roos rebounded  in their matches against Paschal, with wins from Payne, Oveido and McDonald, as well as Dakota Lewis, Kason Bratcher, Tyler Tierce, and Daniel Santiago. Weatherford topped the Panthers, 57-24 win.

The boys will be facing Arlington Heights on Friday at the Ninth-Grade Center.

The girls’ team also traveled to Azle to take on the Hornets and the Panthers, with similar results.

The WHS girls began against a well-established Azle team, keeping it close but falling short, 36-21. The girls rebounded to win an even tighter match with Paschal, 36-34.
