Edwards snags NFCA Player of the Week

Millsap junior catcher/third baseman Madison Edwards was  chosen as the initial Max Preps/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) South Central Region Player of the Week for the 2013 spring campaign, recently. The award was the result of Edwards’ play during the week of Feb. 11-18. 

The Lady Bulldogs’ player hit a mind-boggling .857 batting average (12-for-14) during the week for Millsap, stroking five doubles, a triple, two home runs and netting 17 RBIs during the span. Included in her batting streak were three-hit performances against Ranger (3-for-4, two runs, double, triple, three RBIs), Peaster (3-for-3, three runs, double, HR, four RBIs) and Chico (3-for-3, two runs, two doubles, six RBIs).

    Weatherford football fans showed up to sample the new fare being served up by head  coach Weldon Nelms and his coaching staff on Thursday, after the coaches have spent the past few weeks adding new ingredients to the Roo offensive and defensive schemes during spring drills. The practices culminated with the annual Blue-White Spring Game.

  • Aledo Ladycats move to Region I final with sweep past EP Chapin

    In Game 2 of a Class 4A, Region I semifinal softball match in Odessa on Saturday, the Aledo Ladycats eliminated El Paso Chapin with a 12-6 win. The Ladycats bats heated up early in the match, scoring a pair of runs in the first frame and following up with another three in the seond.
