WEATHERFORD —

WC competes at Sul Ross

Staff Report

Weatherford College sent 43 rodeo athletes more than 400 miles to Alpine, Texas to the Sul Ross State University Rodeo Sept. 27-29.

Savannah Todd led the way for WC, finishing in a tie for third place in goat tying after a strong run in the finals.

Todd’s points, combined with Sarah Ingle’s seventh place finish in goat tying and Taighlor Dougherty’s ninth place in breakaway roping, gave the WC women a fifth place finish out of 16 teams.

The WC men came up empty in the team standings, but a quality performance was turned in by J.C. Williams, who missed the finals in team roping by two tenths of a second.

Next, the Southwest Region schools will meet in Vernon Oct. 11-13 for the Vernon College Rodeo.
