WHS girls sweep matches, Roos improve to 3-0

The Weatherford High varsity tennis team extended its current win streak with a 12-7 victory over Paschal on Friday. The team, led by nine seniors, sports a 3-0 district record.
WHS was led by the girls, who won three of three doubles matches and were also perfect in singles, winning all six of their matches.
District play was set to continue Tuesday. with the Roos traveling to North Crowley.
Weatherford runs in massive Marcus Meet

WHS cross country runners raced at the competitive Flower Mound Marcus Invitational on Saturday, class 5A races consisting of 200-350 runners in each division.
Despite battling injuries and illness, the Roo varsity girls, including Ronni Middleton, Cheyenne Barfield, Jessie Opella and Cassandra Kirby, all improved their times in the run.
Improving race strategy if not their times, the varsity boys point earners, Quinn Wright, Tyler Jones, John Bessire, Jordan Simmons and Travis Lynch, all finished within one minute of each other.
The junior varsity boys’ top runner, Conner Paschall, got a bad break, being overcome by the heat unable to finish. But the JV boys had three finish in the top third and six finish in the top half of the most competitive field of athletes they have seen this year. Preston Perez was the first Roo across the line followed by Caleb Carroll, Colton Hard, Truett Miller and Jachob Christian.
