The Trinity Chrisitian Academy Eagles of Willow Park were eliminated from the TCAF six-man football play-offs, Saturday. Midland Trinity beat TCA, 58-6, in the state semi-finals in a game played at Trent High School.
The Eagles' lone touchdown came in the second quarter when Caleb Jernigan returned a kick-off 75 yards for a score.
Freshman quarterback Dustin Jacobs led the Eagles offensive attack, completing five passes in ten attempts, for 27 yards. Howdy Pike had two receptions on the day while Parker Mays, Caleb Mills and Jernigan each had one reception.
The TCA defense was led by defensive end Howdy Pike, who recorded seven tackles, followed by Jared McNutt and Jernigan with six each, Marcus McCoy and Greg Lanier with five each and James Figiel with two tackles. Reid Blackwell, Danny Edwards, Sean Ware and Caaleb Mills also recorded tackles.
The game marked the end of a career for four TCA seniors, Howdy Pike, Marcus McCoy, Jared McNutt and Caleb Mills.
The Eagles ran off eight straight victories during the season and captured the TCAF Division I, District 1 championship with a perfect 7-0 record. Jernigan established season records for yards gained in a game, season (2,426 yards) and touchdowns in a season (53).
Pike broke single season records for tackles recorded in a year with 166 and sacks in a season 22 while pushing his career tackles record to 484, which is also a school record.
