WEATHERFORD —

For the fourth-straight year, the Weatherford wrestling will return to Austin to compete in the University Scholastic League (UIL) State Wrestling Championships.

As a team, the Weatherford wrestlers finished in the top ten at the Region I meet, with two wrestlers qualifying to compete in the state meet in Austin. The state meet will be held Feb. 24-25 at the Austin ISD Delco Center, located at 4601 Pecan Brook Drive, in Austin.

Senior Joseph Payne and Sophomore Garrett Hadley wrestled to third-place finishes in their respective weight class at the regional tournament to earn passage to the state tournament. Senior Hunter Linn placed fifth in his division and will be a state alternate.
