WEATHERFORD —
Brock junior hurler Shay Phillips joined two other pitchers he took the mound against in the 2012 season as the three were named First Team All-State pitchers in Class 2A.
Chosen by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSBCA), two other Brock players made the all-state roster. The other First Team pitchers selected were Jon Malmin of Troy, who the Eagles beat in the regional semifinal round and Gerald Reyna, the ace for Bushland, who Brock faced in the state tourney.
The Eagles’ Ben Dickmann was named Second Team at the third base position, while fellow senior J.D. Stinnett was chosen at shortstop on the Third Team.
Aledo’s Devan Watts was named to the Class 4A All-State roster, pegged as one of the second baseman on the Third Team.
Phillips, who surrendered no earned runs in the state semifinal in Round Rock, was named the pitcher on the All-Tournament team.
