WEATHERFORD —

Springtown leaps away from Bullfrogs in District 6-3A rout

The Porcupines fought Lake Worth to a 7-all standstill through the first quarter Friday at Kittrell Stadium, but then left a note in very strong language to the rest of District 6-3A.

Scoring 24 points in the second quarter to the Bullfrogs’ six, Pojo continued the rout in the second half en route to a 60-13 win, firmly establishing its claim to second place in the district, which will be decided on Friday, when Mineral Wells visits Porcupine Stadium.

Led by four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing) from senior quarterback Colby Moore, Springtown churned out nearly 500 yards of offense. Moore and freshman QB Landry Turner combined for 175 yards while completing 15 of 27 passes, but the ground game accounted for most of the damage to the Lake Worth defenders. Tyler Robertson led all runners with 112 yards on 13 carries, averaging 8.5 yards per tote.

Pojo’s defense shut out Lake Worth in the second half, and allowed just 200 yards of total offense for the Bullfrogs, who had been averaging 325 yards per contest on the season. Improving to 2-1 on district play, Springtown hosts Mineral Wells (2-1) in a match set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

Millsap woes continue with loss

to Dallas Life Oak Cliff

A Bulldogs already-depleted roster continues its struggle as it wends its way through the District 6-2A, DII schedule. Matched Friday against Dallas Life Oak Cliff, the Millsap offense failed to get on track and fell to the Lions, 49-0.

QB Michael Rogers carried most of the load for the Bulldogs, rushing for 35 yards and throwing for 46. Millsap meets Scurry-Rosser on Friday.
