Millsap CC teams continue strong season

The Millsap High School Cross Country teams competed at the Lipan Cross Country Invitational on Wednesday. For the second meet in a row the girls varsity came away with a meet championship. Haley Younger placed first, with a time of 12:27. Also medaling  in the top ten and were Mikelyn Kruger (third), Sydney Herbel (sixth), and Perla Orduna (eighth). Jolee Carswell medaled in the JV race with an eighth-place finish.  

The boy’s varsity team was lead by Jaxon Martin who had a first-place finish, achieving a time of 16:15. Bobby Nolen finished sixth and Daulton Thomas placed 11th. The Millsap boys  finished the meet placing third overall.  

The Millsap Middle School team also competed at the Lipan run, with Tyler Burchette earned a medal while placing 15th.  

The next meet for the Millsap Cross Country team will be Saturday, September 29th at Alvord.

 

Tison, Hall runners produce medal winners at Lipan Invitational

Weatherford middle schools sent several runners to the front of the pack on Wednesday, as they ran in the Lipan Invitational Cross Country meet at Hill Creek Pond.

The Tison boys produced three top-10 finishers, with Jared Steele winning the event in 11:21. Preston Edison took sixth (12:17) in the division, while Wilson Baker took the 10th spot (12:39). With 59 total points, the Tison boys finished second overall. 

Hall had two medalists in the boys division, with Jake Boudreau claiming ninth (12:37) and Hunter Hilton crossing the finish in 11th place (12:40).

Tison’s Lally Vasquez also took home a medal, running a time of 14:29 and finishing in ninth place.

 

Saturday cross country meets keep area runners on the paths

With district meets still a month away, area cross country teams have already been running in meets since late August, and the slates are full for the weekend.

Weatherford runners, boys and girls, head north of Dallas to Highland Village’s Copperas Branch Park on Saturday to compete in the Marcus II meet, hosted by Lewisville ISD’s Marcus High School.

The Peaster boys are off until a week from Saturday, but the Lady Hounds cross country team will squeeze in two runs before joining the boy’s team in Alvord on Sept. 29. The junior high and varsity girls will run at Lindsay on Saturday, and both are slated to run again on Wednesday, in Perrin.

Western Hills will host the Cougar Invitational on Saturday, with the races to be run at Holiday Park alongside the lake in Benbrook. Running at the sizable meet will be the girls and boys cross country teams of Aledo High School. First start is slated for 8 a.m.

    Aledo’s young women go west this week, seeking additional fortune in the state softball playoffs. The Class 4A, Region I semifinal series will match District 7 champion Aledo against the District 1 winner El Paso Chapin’s Lady Huskies, who eliminated Plainview in two games last weekend.

    Barn-burner score fest ends with Aledo walk-off in Game 1

    By the time the Burleson Centennial hitters began to figure out Aledo’s Lauren Craine, the Lady Spartans were already down by five runs in the Class 4A Region I Quarterfinal softball contest. Centennial’s first 13 batters were sent back to the dugout without success as Craine put the ball in play and the Aledo defense answered.
