In their final home dual meet of the season, the Weatherford High School junior varsity boys, varsity boys and varsity girls hosted teams from Euless Trinity on Tuesday, at the Ninth-Grade Center (NGC).
On a night the senior wrestlers were recognized, the varsity wrestlers made a good accounting of themselves by dominating the mats in the team results.
The inaugural Lady Roos wrestling team made quick work of the Lady Trojans with a flurry of pins. Weatherford wrestlers Taylar White, Haley Robinson, Bethany Jackson and Jade Stults each recorded wins, racking up a total final score of 48-6.
By the time the varsity Roos took to the mats, the momentum set by their predecessors was still intact.
With wins from Tyler McDonald, Boone Kelley, Nester Oviedo, Austin Cox, Sam Mason, Teancum Payne, Kason Bratcher and Alan Prince, the Weatherford boys beat the Trojans by a 50-22 count.
The JV began the night of competition, with Austin Foster, Zac Mohr and Stanley Merchant each chalking up wins.
The final home dual is not the final home date for the Roos, as the NGC will be the site for the Outback Tournament, set for this weekend.
The boys JV matches will commence Friday, with competition beginning at 3 p.m. The boys varsity matches have a 9 a.m. start on Saturday.
With a couple more meetings scheduled in January, District 2-5A competition is set for the first two days in February.
