Arrest prompts look at 2010 Millsap robbery

Though no charges have been filed in either case as of Monday night, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a man suspected of robbing a Weatherford credit union Aug. 30 is also considered a suspect in the armed robbery of a bank in Millsap two years ago.

After readers pointed out similar physical characteristics between bank robbery suspects, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Danie Huffman told the Democrat that investigators have been investigating recently arrested robbery suspect Bradley Kilmer in connection with the Millsap robbery and have not sought charges against him nor ruled him out as a suspect.

Denton police arrested Bradley Craig Kilmer, 33, who was staying at a Rendon address, as he was attempting to discard his shirt and hat in an apparent attempt to make a getaway after robbing a credit union on West University Drive, according to police reports.

Kilmer is a suspect in a string of Texas bank and credit union robberies during August, including in Alvarado, Lacy Lakeview and Weatherford, as well as bank robberies in South Carolina and Georgia.

Alvarado authorities reported they located clothing worn by Kilmer in the Alvarado and Lacy Lakeview robberies.

In the Weatherford robbery on Aug. 30, a man wearing a striped yellow and blue polo shirt and a Texas Rangers ball cap reportedly entered Fort Worth Community Credit Union on South Main Street and gave a note to a teller indicating he would harm her if she did not give him money. The teller reportedly gave him the money and he fled the area in a red car. No weapon was displayed during the robbery.

He was described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 220 to 230 pounds, with short red hair and slight chin whiskers.

During the Sept. 3, 2010 robbery in Millsap, a man entered the bank at 107 Fannin St. that Friday afternoon wielding a sawed-off shotgun, pointed the shotgun at a teller and demanded money. He left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash after spraying bank employees in the face with pepper spray.

The suspect was described as a white male standing 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11 inches, weighing around 220 pounds, with dark blond or strawberry-colored hair and a mustache. He was reported wearing a striped polo shirt, a green ball cap with a small logo and dark sunglasses, as well as an elastic wrap bandage around his right forearm.

Kilmer remained in the Denton County Jail Monday evening on charges of robbery from Denton and Orangeburg, S.C.
