The National Weather Service says a strong storm system is expected to move across the region on Christmas Day.
There is a chance of a cold rain on Christmas Day across North and Central Texas. Along and to the north of Interstate 20 conditions could result in rain mixing with or changing over to snow during the afternoon and evening hours.
Snowfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible along and north of a Bowie to McKinney to Emory line. South of this line a trace of snow accumulations are expected at present. Conditions could change, depending on the exact track the approaching system takes, so travelers should monitor weather forecasts. Conditions could be slightly worse north of the Red River.
Monday’s high is forecast to reach the mid-50s Fahrenheit under partly to mostly sunny skies. There is a 40 percent chance of rain Monday night. Tuesday’s high is expected to reach just the upper 30s and fall throughout the day.
The low Wednesday morning could be in the teens. There is a 50 percent chance of rain and snow Christmas Day. Wednesday’s high under mostly sunny skies is forecast for the mid 30s.
