Firefighters battle blaze, heat

WEATHERFORD —

Battling the 102-degree heat in addition to the fire Monday afternoon, firefighters attempted to save what they could of a home off of Zion Hill Road near Erwin Road.

Flames were coming through the roof on the north side of the mobile home when firefighters arrived on scene around 2 p.m. Monday.

Responding departments included Poolville, Central Community, Peaster, Springtown, Adell-Whitt, La Junta, Salt Creek, Millsap and others, as well as LifeCare, CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and the Red Cross.

Zion Hill Road was shut down as firefighters trucked water to the location to use on the blaze.

A small dog injured in the fire was bandaged by firefighters at the scene.

Information on the cause of the fire was not available Monday.

Firefighters were also called to a house fire in the Brock area Monday evening, but details weren't available at press time.
