Filings under way for open local, area school board seats

Filings are open seats on local and area school boards are underway. The filing period ends March 1, and the election date is May 11.Here is information on the seats open on area school boards:

Weatherford ISD

• Place 5, occupied by Charlie Martinez.

• Place 4, occupied by Gail Wirtanen.

• Place 3, occupied by Ashley Conlon.

The filing deadline is 5 p.m. on March 1. Applications to run for a seat can be picked up at the district services building, 1100 Longhorn Drive, Weatherford, TX 76086.

Aledo ISD

• Place 4, occupied by Steve Bartley.

• Place 5, occupied by Bobby Rigues.

The filing deadline is 4 p.m. on March 1. Applications can be picked up at the Aledo ISD business office, 1008 Bailey Ranch Road, Aledo, TX 76008.

Millsap ISD

Terms for Tommy Lucia and Jerry Walker are expiring. The filing deadline is March 1 at 5 p.m. applications can be picked up at the Millsap ISD administration office, 201 E. Brazos, Millsap, TX.

Springtown ISD

• Place 1, Mike Ray.

• Place 2, Keith Springfield.

• Place 3, Vicky Trichel.

All above seats are for full three-year terms. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. March 1.

Place 7, a two-year unexpired term, will be considered on special election, also May 11. This was created by resignation of Kelly Mayo in July 2012. Al Garrett was appointed to fill the vacancy.

Candidate packets may be picked up at the SISD Administration Office, 301 E. 5th St., Springtown, TX.

Peaster ISD

• Calwin Kirk.

• Scott Johnson.

• Robbie Ballard.

Packets can be picked up and dropped off at the Peaster ISD building, 3602 Harwell Lake Road. The deadline to file is March 1.
