PARKER COUNTY —
A fire claimed one Parker County man’s home late Monday afternoon.
The structure, located in the 300 block of Hancock Drive just east of Weatherford city limits and constructed from two RVs, was fully involved when firefighters arrived on scene.
However, firefighters from ESD No. 3, Weatherford, Willow Park and Aledo kept the fire from spreading to surrounding homes.
A sister of the resident said her brother was at work at the time.
A neighbor called to report the fire, according to Assistant Fire Marshal Frank Watson.
Neighbors and family members gathered around the property as firefighters worked Monday evening.
“It looked a lot larger than it was,” Watson said, who added the plume of smoke was visible from a considerable distance.
The cause of the fire was not yet clear as firefighters continued work at the scene Monday. However, Watson said he would be looking specifically at possible faulty wiring or a wood-burning stove.
Animals at the residence were OK, according to the relative.
