Lady Roos win Aledo tourney

With a 1-0 win over Arlington Heights on Saturday, the Weatherford varsity soccer girls won the Aledo Tournament championship. Erin Hailey sent a corner kick in to Cooper Mullins who headed it home for the lone goal of the match. Hailey was named tournament MVP.

To reach the title match, the Lady Roos topped Granbury on Thursday with penalty kicks, after a 3-3 tie in regulation with Kristin Kelley, Cooper Mullins and Shelby Givler scoring goals. On Friday, the WHS girls beat Keller Timbercreek, 3-1, with Hailey, Hannah Way and Connor MacKenzie finding the net.

With a second-place finish and a championship under their belts already, the Lady Roos enter their final pre-district tourney on Thursday, in Birdville.
