Brock girls win, advance to state title game

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Four-time defending UIL Class 2A girls basketball champion Brock spotted Centerville an early lead then posted a 15-0 scoring run to cruise to a 42-23 semifinal victory.

Brock's Cora Jenkins led all scorers with 13 points and five rebounds while Taylor Wallace and Braylee Flaska each added nine points for the Eagles. The Brock defense limited Centerville to nine of 34 shooting and forced 19 turnovers. Kayla Brewer led Centerville with eight points while Maygin Harris added seven.

Brock (34-5) trailed 4-0 before starting its scoring run and holding Centerville to a single basket in the second quarter.

Brock is making its 19th appearance in the state tournament with seven state championships, including the last four. Centerville (30-7) was making its first appearance in the tournament. The Lady Eagles will play for the Class 2A title at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
