WEATHERFORD —
Weatherford police arrested a man early Friday morning after, police say, he pointed a .20-gauge shotgun at his mother and threatened her.
Jacob Wayne Allen, 30, was charged with second degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and class A misdemeanor interference with a 911 call.
Allen’s 52-year-old mother called 911 shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday and 911 operators heard the woman yelling for Allen to hand over the gun, according to Weatherford police. The woman also reportedly began yelling for Allen to give her phone back.
When officers arrived at the residence in the 600 block of West Lake Drive, a neighbor told police he heard a gunshot.
Allen, his mother, an 18-year-old woman and a child were then removed from the residence.
The 18-year-old reportedly told police that she was asleep and was awakened by the sound of a gunshot. She said she found Allen and the woman arguing and Allen holding a shotgun when she walked into the living room, Det. Troy Luecke’s probable cause affidavit states.
The mother reportedly told officers that Allen pushed her down while they were arguing outside the residence, injuring her hand, arm and leg.
Allen then entered the residence and located the gun and the shells for it and there was a struggle for the gun at one point, Allen’s mother reportedly told police.
“[She] advised that she told Jacob that she was calling the police,” Luecke wrote. “While Jacob was holding the shotgun he made the statement to her that if that is the way she wanted it. She advised that he also made the statement that he would give the officers something to come to.”
Allen reportedly told officers during a later recorded interview that he told his mother that if she was calling the police, he was going to make them work to take him to jail.
The officers wrote that Allen concluded the interview by saying that if it ever happened again the outcome would be different and he would be armed to defend himself by legally bearing arms.
Allen remained in the Parker County Jail Monday evening with bond set at a total of $35,000.
