On Nov. 27, Weatherford Police officers met with a victim of identity theft at the Weatherford Police Department. The victim reported she had lost her credit/debit card in the 1800 block of South Main Street.
She was later advised by her bank that unknown person(s), without her consent, made multiple unauthorized charges to her account using the lost credit/debit card.
In the photos above, the suspect has used the stolen credit/debit card at the Walmart on South Main Street and the adjacent Murphy’s USA gas station.
The Weatherford Police Department is encouraging anyone who may have information on these crimes or any other criminal activity to contact the Weatherford Police Department at 817-598-4300 or Parker County Crime Stoppers at 817-599-5555 or 1-800-942-STOP.
The Weatherford Police Department is also asking local businesses to continue in practicing measures to protect themselves by asking for identification when a customer pays with a check or credit card, particularly if the customer is purchasing a multitude of monetary gift cards. If either is declined and the customer continues to attempt to pay with multiple credit cards, this may be an indication that credit/debit card abuse is occurring.
Up to a $1,000 reward will be paid for information about this crime and you may remain anonymous.
