Woman charged with coersion of child witness

PARKER COUNTY — A family member of a young witness in an ongoing criminal child abuse case was arrested Thursday on a charge of tampering with a witness.

Charmen Taree Wilson, 30, of Parker County, removed the witness from the home where CPS placed the child after the alleged abuse was reported, punished the child for talking with authorities and abruptly moved the witness to Louisiana, court records allege.

Roy Villarreal, 24, of Weatherford, was first arrested in August on a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact after, Weatherford police claim, he molested a young child on multiple occasions.

Police say that, during an interview, Villarreal denied improperly touching the alleged victim but said there was a recent incident where he was tickling the victim and the child looked scared and told him not to touch the victim like that.

He was rearrested Sept. 28 for insufficient bond after he failed to report to the Parker County Community Supervisions and Corrections Department and remained in the Parker County Jail as of Monday.

The young witness in the case was reportedly punished by Wilson after CPS contacted Wilson in October about comments made by the child.

According to court documents, Wilson, who did not have custody of the child,  picked up the witness from school Oct. 15.

She reportedly spoke with the child abuse suspect about a meeting with CPS on Oct. 17.

“It was the school because [the girl] was opening her mouth ... just saying that I’m still talking to you and she feels like her life is in danger,” Wilson reportedly told Villarreal about the meeting.

Wilson reportedly told the suspect that she was about ready to pack and go to Louisiana, the arrest warrant probable cause affidavit filed with Justice of the Peace Kelly Green states.

“I done told her [the girl] you need to keep your ... mouth shut,” Wilson reportedly told Villarreal. “If the school’s asking you what’s wrong, say ‘nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. Nothing is wrong.’”

Wilson told Villarreal that she punished the girl for making the report by keeping her in her room. The following day, Oct. 18, the girl was withdrawn from a Weatherford elementary school, according to officials.

Later that week, Villarreal began receiving calls from Wilson on a Lousiana landline, police reported. Documents filed by CPS state that Wilson did not enroll the girl in any other school after removing her from the Weatherford school in October.

Family members of the witness also allege Wilson showed Villarreal’s jail photograph to the witness and told the child that she is the reason Villarreal is in jail.

Wilson told the witness not to talk to law enforcement or CPS and to deny that anything happened, a family member of the witness said in a sworn affidavit.

Wilson remained in the Parker County Jail Monday evening with bond set at $15,000.
